Sustainability through powder coating
An environmentally friendly solution for frame colouring
For us, the colour of a wheel is much more than just an aesthetic feature. It is an expression of individuality, a statement on wheels. Our powder coating facility, which has been in use in our production since 1998, not only enables us to offer a very wide range of colours, but also ensures that our wheels are coloured in an environmentally friendly way.
Compared to conventional wet paint, which is commonly used to colour frames, the powder used for powder coating our bikes is free of harmful solvents or heavy metals. This not only makes our production processes safer for our employees, but also significantly reduces our environmental impact. Another advantage of powder coating is its time efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to painting. In addition, our powder-coated frames are characterised by their particularly high resistance and durability.
In 2021, we commissioned our latest powder coating plant, which represents a further step towards sustainability. Fully automated and based on robot technology, it enables even higher quality and precision in the coating of our frames. Automation allows us to avoid returns and waste of resources, which makes sense not only ecologically but also economically.
To avoid defects in the coating, the frames are thoroughly inspected by hand before coating and then approved for coating. If defects do occur, the frame is reworked to avoid chemical pickling processes that contain environmentally hazardous substances.
By equipping our new coating plant with an A-oven, which enables 30 to 40% higher energy efficiency, we are significantly reducing our energy consumption and actively contributing to climate protection.
The implementation of the powder coating plant and the ongoing optimisation of our production processes enable us to contribute to environmental protection while offering high-quality products that are not only enjoyable but also durable.
